Kolhapuri Mutton Recipe

Ingredients

1 or 1/2 kg mutton (lamb) pieces
1/2 cup dessicated coconut
1 sliced tomato
4-5 Green chillies
20 Red chilies
10 black peppers
5-6 cloves
6-8 Peppercorns
2 Chopped onions
2 Coriander leaves
1-2 sliced and peeled potatoes
1-2 tablespoon turmeric powder
2 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
3 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon jeera
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1/2 cup water
Salt as per taste

Method

Grind green chillies and add it in the ginger-garlic paste. Take a bowl, add ginger-garlic-chili paste, salt, turmeric powder and mix it well with lamb pieces then keep it aside for a while.
Take a pan and add 3 tablespoon of oil in it then add cloves, peppercorn, poppy seeds, coriander leaves, red chillies, lack pepper and jeera. Allow it to fry for a minute then add chopped onions into it. You have to fry this till onions change their color to brown. (Note: if you don’t like spicy red chili taste then you can reduce the number of red chillies or add red chili powder or more green chillies as per your taste)
Take the half cup of dessicated coconut, sliced tomato and add it to the mixture. Now it’s time to add mixture of lamb-piece into this. Add salt as per your taste. You can either cook this mixture in pressure cooker or bowl and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes. Add 1/2 cup water to make lamb pieces soft. After letting it cook for 15 minutes you’ll find thick gravy of kolhapuri mutton.

This dish serves for 3-4 people and while serving this you can add coriander leaves to garnish it. If you like this spicy dish then check mutton rogan josh and prawn malai curry recipe, i'm sure you'll enjoy that as well.
